Alice in
Wonderland

“Off with her head!” “I’m late. I’m late for a very important date.” These are just two of the familiar phrases from the classic story, Alice in Wonderland. In 1865, author Lewis Carroll penned the unforgettable tale of a young girl and her adventures in a place called Wonderland. Six years later followed the sequel, Through the Looking Glass. Since that time dozens of adaptations have surfaced. Everything from Disney’s beloved cartoon with its precocious Cheshire Cat to the recent Tim Burton version starring Johnny Depp with its tragic backstory.

Hanalani Upper School presented Brainerd Duffield’s adaptation of the two timeless tales this February. The first half focused primarily on the recognizable narrative of Alice, whereas the second half incorporated scenes from the sequel.
